It is amazing how much info you can get from the web about any number of topics – including addiction. There is so much information available from such a wide variety of sources that you can actually be paralyzed with choices. I wanted to put a few of my favorite resources for information abut also for just interesting reading about the lifestyle of addiction that millions of Americans lead in quiet desperation or recovery.
Addiction Tomorrow Blog – Mike’s blog is a top notch resource for current events about addiction and the addiction treatment industry.
Sober Living by the Sea Alumni Blog – This drug treatment blog contains contributions by the staff of Sober Living by the Sea.
NIDA Website – A great place for drug addiction statistics and the like, but not very fun to read or cuttin edge.
All About Addiction - A cool site who’s owner writes great content about the phenomenon of addiction in our society and really keeps his finger on the pulse of addiction in the United States and abroad.
SAMHSA Website – Similar to the NIDA website in that it has a lot of statistical type information about drugs, but there is very little interesting editorial commentary so I find myself visiting it only occasionally.
The Culinary Addict – If you know any professional chefs and are familiar with traits of addicts then it will not come as much of a surprise that the Culinary Addict blog is created by a chef who is a recovering addict and meticulously posts about recipes he enjoys during his life of recovery.
The High Functioning Alcoholic - Almost everybody knows one – a high functioning alcoholic who can maintain a life and a career and thus is above reproach about his/her reckless alcoholism. If you want to understand more about a person like this you will enjoy this blog.
